Eva L. Johnston

February 6, 1913 - May 19, 2011

Eva L. Johnston, 98, of Janesville passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Cedar Crest Assisted Living in Janesville. Eva was born on February 6, 1913, in Spring Valley Township, Rock County, WI, the daughter of Albert and Amanda (Freeman) Delsrude. On January 6, 1963, she married A.E. “Bill” Johnston at Faith Lutheran Church in Janesville. He died on April 17, 2001. Eva graduated from high school in Brodhead and immediately went to work in Janesville at the telephone company. After 36 years, she retired from a supervisory position on December 19, 1965. Following Bill’s death, she sold her home and moved to Cedar Crest Independent Living and 5 years later moved to Cedar crest Assisted Living Memory Care where she struggles with advanced dementia until the time of her passing.

Survivors include one sister, Freda Lewis of Janesville and her extended family, 2 sisters-in-law, Amy Delsrude of Wautoma, WI and her extended family, Joy Fauska of Janesville and her extended family as well as her friends at Faith Lutheran Church where she was a founding member. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and one brother who died in early childhood, a brother, Arnold Delsrude and his son, David of Wautoma, WI.

It was Eva’s request that any memorials, if desired, should be directed to the Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Cedar Crest Endowment Fund.

Eva’s family wishes to thank her doctors and their staffs at Riverview Clinic and staff at Cedar Crest, including her care-givers over the past years and most especially, those who cared for her the last few days of her life.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 2116 Mineral Point Avenue, Janesville. Pastor David Andert will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church. The family is being assisted by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. www.henkeclarson.com.
